Good News

Pa had an upper GI to find there was no evidence of obstruction in his stomach/intestines--the operation was cancelled--he went fishing instead :-)  It is clear he's feeling better and getting into his routines in the garden, moving lawn, etc. He will begin chemo this Wednesday. Keep those prayers coming--we just may shrink that tumor. joe

7/20 Update

Pa is beginning to get his strength back and feeling better only to find out his stomach is not processing his food. He's been eating very soft foods that Ma prepares so well. Pa will be having an operation this Friday to resect his large intestines to his stomach. He will also have a precautionary feeding tub inserted for when it is needed. The surgeon will be checking on the status of the tumor as well.

We had the Chilberg clan from Florida up for a reunion last weekend--it was a good time and reconnection with Uncle John, Aunt Shirley, Cousin Steve & wife Barbara and Cousin Stephanie--wonderful people--we all had a good time.

Update, 7/9/05

Pa had is final consult with Roswell--an operation to remove the tumor is too iffy--risks/cost much larger than possible benefits.
Pa will now continue chemo and wait and see.

I spoke with Pa this morning--he's is beginning to feel a little better and his appetite is picking up--he can even taste food now. Monday he goes in to replace the temporary stint with a permanent one--it's an outpatient deal. We hope that this could reduce some discomfort since the temp stint is way over do for replacement.

We are all looking forward to the visit from the Florida contingent of the Chilberg clan next weekend--should be a memorable reunion.

Keep Pa in your prayer and imagine his recovery and push the feelings of it forward.  Best, joe
