Good News

The party to honor Pa was a great time--many old friends (young and not so young) attended. It was a reunion for a community of folks. The DVD that Cindy and Louise commissioned was not only a great pictorial review of Pa's life but of our lives together. Beyond touching and more heart warming than Mom and apple pie. Pa was surprised and seemingly energized by it all.

Pa's last rounds of chemo are making him rather uncomfortable and Ma is on his case to eat like "white on rice". He has one good day and 5 crappy ones. However, today we found out he's a candidate for cyberknife surgery (see link for more info on it) at Georgetown Med Ctr. Looks life he'll be gong there sometime in late Sept. He will have to make two trips with the prospect of extending his life and even remission. It's to bad our oncologist didn't tell us about cyberknife--Uncle John Nemia discovered it in a news paper article. Go figure--don't trust your Dr. with your life--look for yourself as well. 7/10 Update

Pa has put on 12 lbs and looking more like himself these days. He still feels crappy but has better days as well. He's able to get in the garden and mow his lawn but gets tuckers out after awhile.

We have come across a new cancer therapy called cyberknife--it is a treatment that follows radiation and chemo. Louise is checking into it with her medical connections. It appears promising.

In the meantime I'm picking Pa up for a long weekend at my place to assess our stash of aging wines for blending and bottling.  joe
